Halal Journey surrounding Geneva: Eating Out ala KFC

It's been a while since I updated the post.  Let's continue on the Halal food journey in Geneva.  As I mentioned earlier, there has been a lot of changes since the last time I was here.  Halal restaurants have mushroomed all around Geneva from the Middle Easter cuisines, the Indian cuisines, the Southeast Asian cuisines (Malaysia, Indonesian & Thai food) and also, the fast food options.

This time I will focus on the fast food options as orang Mesia normally will miss the KFC, the juicy and crispy fried chicken. Sehingga menjilat jari!  I think I will begin chronologically...

1.  Issy Fried Chicken 8-10 rue Paul Bert | 74100 ANNEMASSE | Tel 04 50 75 96 36

I think from my viewpoint (please correct me ok), this is the first Halal fast food serving fried chicken surrounding Geneva.  Issy Fried Chicken is not located in Geneva but in Annemasse, France.During our last stay here in 2007-2010, this was our fave spot when we craved for fried chicken. A drive from our home in Versoix to this place is around 30km but when you craved for this, distance does not matter!

2. Chic Chicken - Boulevard du Pont-d'Arve 28, 1205 Geneva | 022 320 53 44 |

This place is located near Plainpalais facing the UniGeneve.  I think this is one of the Halal oldest fastfood outlet in Geneva.  The place is quite large compared to Issy and the menu here are robust and the portion is quite big.  My boy loves this place as they can eat variety of burgers here. The best way to come here is to take the Tram 15 (Nations) from Gare and stop at Plainpalais.

3. Tasty Chicken -  Ferney, 26 Chemin des Mûriers, 01210 Ferney-Voltaire, France (Open 24 hours)

Tasty Chicken first opened its outlet in Ferney in 2010. We were excited as we have the option of a much more nearer outlet for fast food compared to Issy in Annemasse (we were not aware of Chic Chicken then but I think it was there already).  Tasty Chicken is just a 10 minute drive from our home in Versoix.  It's located next to Mini Coop and is very convenience in terms of parking etc.  For those who do not drive, you can take the F bus from Gare and stop in front of Ferney Mairie.  The outlet is just the same building as the Mairie.

4. Tasty Chicken Geneva - 29b Rue de Berne 1201  Geneva

Now Tasty Chicken has opened one branch in Geneva near the Paquis area.  The place is bit small and could not accommodate large crowd. For us, a family of five, we have to use two tables separated by aisle.  The food here is good.  Other than the fried chicken, I recommend that you should try the Chicken curry.. is to die for.. we love it so much! the portion is big especially for chicken curry set and you  ( only for Asian) can share laa...

Okay guys... next time I will share other Halal cuisines in Geneva... go explore these places that I share... for those who crave KFC.. some might meet your expectation, but some might not. Beggars cannot be choosers... so enjoy the food.

A bientot!!

Halal Journey in Geneve... the Halal Meat

As I mentioned in an earlier post, there are many Halal restaurants available in Geneve.  This is due to a very large Muslim community here be it expatriates, visitors or the local population.  In fact, if you walk anywhere in Geneve center, you will always encounter many Muslims especially women wearing Hijab.  Today, I will be sharing with you where to find Halal food ingredients (later I will share about restaurants).  Boucheries: for chicken (poulet), beef (beouf) and related products 1. On a footed destiny…

“The foot feels the foot when it feels the ground.” Buddha quotes (Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.) --> “Patah kaki” literally described us when we started our life in Versoix. The mode of transport was a 10-minute walk to the nearest bus stop called Les Fayards. From there, we have to take a TPG (Transport Public Genevois) bus which operates almost every hour to Geneva. The journey on the V-bus would take us around 50 minutes along the countryside, down the lane and up the hill, passing by monuments, the Red Crescent HQ, the UN place and homes. --> It was winter and a 10-minute walk could feel like forever with the cold frigid wind blow against you. I could not imagine hubby going out early in the morning, walking towards the bus stop and waiting for the bus in the winter season. Sometimes, he had to brace the thick snow or the slippery black ice along the road. From his office, another 10 minutes walk to the nearest bus st
