The journey begins

“The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.”
Don Williams, Jr. quotes (American Novelist and Poet, b.1968)

The year 2006 marked significant changes in our lives. I was pregnant for the second time. It was a joyous celebration for us but also it was also a nightmare for me. My company was undergoing business transformation as such most of my time was spent at the office. My tummy grew synonymously with the workloads, the never-ending projects and the business trips. But, the best news was that hubby got an offer to be posted overseas. Fuhhh, what a relief! Gotta a break from all these madness.

The preparation to move there was quite a learning experience for us. Sorting

out things at home was chaotic to say! What to bring, what to sell, what to maintain … so many checklists to implement! So, guys let me share the most important tips if you are moving out to overseas.

  • Starts your packing with checklist!! Humans tend to forget!
  • Research, research, research. Know what’s out there. Cost of living, food, weather etc. Then, you know what to put in your checklist. You can Google, ask friends who either stay there or have been there or join in social networking forums to get information.
  • Compile and prioritize the information and start your checklists.
  • Implement the checklists. Plan your work and you work your plan.

The rest will follows once you have done this. But, it is not as easy as this. We departed from KLIA on 4th January 2007 and arrived at Genève Aeroport on a winter morning the next day. With 5 boxes and 4 luggage, we began our new life in Geneva.

Should I mention about the flight trip itself! Naw, safe to say that we survived more than 13 hours flight with transit in Frankfurt with a 4-year old boy and a 5-month old baby in a good shape!

Jelajah Andalusia, Sepanyol - Alhambra

It's almost the end of 2009 and our tenure in Geneve almost ended! For our last trip, we decided to visit Spain!  Why Spain? In fact, we wanted to run away from the cold harsh winter time in Switzerland!  People suggested Barcelona or Madrid but we wanted to steer away from the hustle bustle of metropolitans and opted for a more relaxing and scenic trip. Thus, we decided to explore the remnants of the Islamic presence in Spain in the Andalusia. So on 21st Dec 2009, we booked our flight using Eastjet from Geneva to Malaga, Spain, the nearest airport in Andalusia and we made as our base booking an apartment there for 3 days. How nice when you can take some fresh air in front of your hotel with jean and just a t-shirt in December in Europe. To ease our movement, we rented car from Hertz to fit a family of five and picked it up at the Malaga airport itself. Coincidentally, we managed to get a sedan Citroen C4! The next day, our first itinerary was to head to the most beautifu...
